    But it wasn't my fault

not a good way to start Saturday morning.
fortunately, my collarbone wasn't broken after a trip to Concord Hospital.
Sunday hurt like hell, but still toughed it out there and picked up two 4th place finishes in the rain.

Obviously a hotly contested warm-up lap. You saw Jim with an epic pass through the straight, only to have the door shut (and locked) on him in the bowl. When the shields are down we have no friends Jim.

FYI...this was an expert. practice 1 is groups 1 and 2 combined.
not trying to name drop here or make this a bash against the other rider.

just pointing out that my weekend turned out positive, when it started bad.

I know I'm speaking as a novice racer here, but...;there is absolutely no excuse for that type of bullshit pass! Especially, when there is nothing to gain by doing it.

Someone forgot their basic roadracing etiquette.

Do you recall our discussion during the Bomo day about this very thing at that exact spot on the track?

    Glad you're okay.

yes, and the rider talked to me after about swooping to the right before tipping in. I've watched the video several times to pinpoint exactly how much i actually floated to the right before tip in. i couldn't have moved more than a foot over. John as an expert, would you approach an amateur that close in practice to pass them?

I'm not trying to point blame but I noticed after being behind you for a few laps over the course of our races that you do that little move to the right every time. its not much, maybe a foot or two at most. try to come down the hill at a trajectory that will bring you to the spot you want to turn in from rather than moving over to the right to make your left turn.

Re: But it wasn't my fault

It's not even that he "swoops" or "moves" to the right, but rather he keeps going straight until he is comfortable enough to throw it in. I.e. he's on the brakes straight up and down and holds that straight line and then gets off the brakes and chucks it in... almost sort of like a slightly late apex approach. This is something I am guilty of as well, especially when I'm braking hard/late. The problem is that the race line does have a slight curve to it due to the banking of the track and the fact that the fast line involves a trailbraking entry. So in essence jim is slightly on the left side of the racing line and he brakes straight up and down and crosses over to the other side of the racing line during his final entry and tip in.

That doesn't mean anyone should be that close at 8:01am in an am/ex mixed practice on a cold morning in october...

Re: But it wasn't my fault

When it comes down to it, this was practice and I wouldn't pass a "slower" rider that close during practice. Jim did drift or even turn a little right before going into that turn... but I don't see fault there, it was a small course correction. As the rider making the pass, the responsibility is on you to make it clean.

    *Dons the flame suit.

I'm usually of the opinion that "what happens in vegas stays in vegas"..... Accidents like this one where there's really not a whole lot to be learned should be addressed at the track and video should stay off the web. Posting the video only leads to a big blame game & pointing of fingers and doesn't do anyone any good whatsoever.... except maybe for Jim, cuz now we won't give him shit... for crashing.... again.... for the umpteenth time.

Re: But it wasn't my fault

I read it & I'm not chastising you for posting the vid, it's not that big a deal...

I just see the Monday morning quarterbacks coming out of the woodwork, breaking it down on the telestrator & turning this into a shitshow. Happens every time there's a crash video where two fellow racers come together. Always leads to animosity. That stuff just gets under my skin.

Perhaps the passing Expert rider could have used the remaining 9 feet of track to their right in order to avoid Jim's slight line change.
