Who wears a chest plate under their suit?

Who wears a chest plate under their suit while on the track?
    What do you wear?
Last time I was on the track I broke ribs with my shattered wrist nubbin. I want to protect my ribs and lungs.

Re: Who wears a chest plate under their suit?

Question for you?? what type of gloves did you have in your crash and what type of gloves are you going to wear next and are they suppose to protect your wrists better. Just wondering because i shattered my wrist like 3 years ago and I'm planning on getting some new gloves over the winter and want to make sure I get something with really good wrist protection.

I know xbootlickx wears a Knox chest plate/ back protector combo cuz he also broke some ribs in a get off in Deals Gap. Not sure if he was actually wearing it in his crash though. I think he got it after for the same reason you are.

There is no wrist protection in gloves. The injuries are usually due to impact forces transferred from hand to wrist. keep your hands in to avoid wrist injuries.

I always wear one at the track, I wear the Dainese one. SMF and A13x Both wear the T-pro And it looks to offer more protection from side impact more wraps around the core. Where the Dainese is a little smaller. Mine works great as when my front brake locked up I flew into the Handlebars at like 60 MPH with no chest damage

I use the dianese chest protector that I bought from Motomarket. It's sturdy, but is what I consider minimal for racing. For the best protection, go with Impact Safe-T Armor. Tony has one.

Can't wear one. Too restrictive for me.

I've been wearing an Icon Field Armor Vest, but pan on upgrading to something better this winter.

I was wearing Vanson gloves when I had my accident. My hands were in, but the impact and sliding after playing Superman did me in.
I had previously worn the Cortech Scarab kevlar wrist protected gloves, which survived several falls with no incident. I had a small tear in one of them right before the race and switched to the Vanson gloves with only leather wrist protection. I can't say if I would have been better for sure with the Cortech, but I retired the new Vanson gloves worn one weekend and have bought a new pair of Cortech for my track days.

Ideally I would have Astars GP or Held gloves.

I wear a Knox Ricochet protector. I don't feel restricted at all. In fact, I don't even realize it's there.

not to sound like an attention whore (hi denno!) but I always wore my Knox with back protector and am sure it helped when I was run over in T1 couple weeks ago. I broke ribs and punctured lung even with it on, I'm sure would have been lot worse without. The newer version wraps more around you cage and I would have upgraded if knew, maybe more restrictive but worth it to me..
    mine (sold)

    new style with lower

I saw the new one on sportbiketrackgear. I also use the Knox back protector, which has the belt in the same place as the new chest protector's belt. Might be an odd fitment.

Re: Who wears a chest plate under their suit?

I use T-Pro Forcefield which is made in England and winner of numerous comparisons. Scott Ferguson had Impact Armor, took one look/fit of my T-Pro, and bought one ASAP. I really like wearing it and don't notice it at all on the bike (which might surprise you as it appears larger/more coverage than the competition). Anyone that's seen me ride knows I monkey all over the motorcycle as well.

Johnson Leather in SF is the US distributor. Check em out.

I started wearing one this season... I upgraded my back protector to the high end A*s one with the intergrated chest protector. I was feeling pretty vulnerable up front...

that's weird, since you've been a garage mate, I've been feeling pretty vulnerable out back.

I wear the A* Tech Guard, it seems smaller than the others, which = less protection & less restriction.
