Whats the secret to the new turn 1????

I haven't raced since we had turn 1 under the knife. What has changed about it? from what I have seen on here there is no pre-turn? Could someone give me an idea of how to approach this new turn?

Re: Whats the secret to the new turn 1????

I did 1 track day this year at loudon and I don't think I ever got the right line down but I turned in later than before and did so with a long arch. It appears that the turn has been moved further down the straight a few feet making turn 1a tighter. I bet there is a turn in because my arch method would make an easy inside pass I bet.

Re: Whats the secret to the new turn 1????

It turns out you can approach on the same tight line as before (pre-turn included), or even tighter. There's a LOT more room to brake down on the apron of the nascar oval, which means you can hold the throttle one marker later (or more). The turn is sharper, but it's point and shoot, so the inside line is fastest.

big swooping = slow in, fast out... But turn 1 is a fast in slow out, point & shoot kinda turn. If you swoop in you're gonna get stuffed. Keep a tight entry and throw it in hard right around the pavement transition.

That's a new pavement transition, not the old transition. Turn in is a good 30-40 feet past where the old turn in was...

You ride the street at a race pace? Knee dragging, limits of your traction and ability simultaneously, in close competition with other riders? Wow, I had no idea.

Kham, you keep getting lost, you're in the Pit area, we're talking about racing

Even for those that had been doing track days, turn 1 and 1a felt completely different. And rightly so.

Are you guys still touching the orange square or is that too tight now? I didn't quite get it down yet either (after 1 race weekend) and found myself coming out of 1 very wide and tight to 1a.

Pretty much what Eric told me. I found him down at the end of the pits watching I started picking his brain. He said he takes a tight line in and the old pre-turn and entry are a good starting point. The people that are really wide now are way off.

And make me cringe as the faster entry is the tight line and the wide guys are gonna get stuffed.

Yeah, but I like the tight line in T6 and don't really like anything about the new turn 1.

.... Well, maybe now that the straight is a little longer I might actually break 100mph

this stupid line that you run is why i was all the way up your ass by the exit of T1 even though you had 10 bike lengths on me going in
