Who's planning on going to Daytona in March

After hearing about all the fun of riding Daytona from people that went to ROC this past October, I want to go in March .

So I am trying to plan if I am going to drive with another racer and just plan on sleeping in the trailer at the track OR pay someone who's putting a trip together to get my bike and gear down there.
Anyone with info of the best way that they found works , please post up with their experiences.
(I.e.) hotel , where to stay and stay away from, drive time with a trailer, fuel cost, additional things that Loudon doesn't require

LOL, wonder whatever happened about that..

There's a hotel literally 0.22 miles from the track. Walking distance. Trailering from your neck of the woods is likely 20 hours. Stephanie would know for sure. If you know Cole Hall, reach out to him. He'd know more about gas costs. Or the Beaudettes. They seem to make the trip often.

What I can tell you is you'll have loads of fun.

Re: Who's planning on going to Daytona in March

like Gino said, you can sleep overnight at the camp area, but they lock the garages and kick everyone out at 6pm.
it's around a 20 hour drive for you, and should cost about $500-$600 each way with gas and tolls.
pre-reg is done via fax. first entry is $160, additional are $95. gate entry is $65 if you dont pre-reg.
there's no gas regulations for CCS, and you only need to safety wire your oil filter, drain plug, and filler cap for tech. For Daytona, i would suggest wiring EVERYTHING and taping over your Dzus clips.
you'll need to bring all your gear and lower to tech...all your gear.

i'm debating on flying and paying someone to tow my stuff while I fly, or make the road trip for the 3rd time.

It's fun, it's an experience, and I'm very happy that I went down there and raced. All that said, the track is kind of boring, and I can think of a lot of tracks I would rather travel to and race at than Daytona. You will enjoy yourself regardless, it's a lot to absorb.

I hear it is a blast , I have gotten some feedback and was told it's nothing like racing NH. you actually have time to think while your up on the banking.
I think i am going to try and start going to other tracks soon. one more solid year in NH. I want my EX plates.

i'd have to check the flyer to see. i honestly cant remember about camping fees. i've always booked a hotel, since i treat Daytona as a vacation.

FYI, the pump gas there is GT260 and it's $9/gal. so if you want to run 93 on the cheap, bring your fuel jug and fill up down the street.

it is a boring track with only 7 turns. but it's an experience to ride the banking and high speeds. i've hit 170 (GPS) on my 600 in 2014.

if you're interested in other tracks, here's my 2016 schedule:
    • Mar 10-13 Daytona Int’l Speedway
    • Apr 30-May 1 New Jersey MP
    • May 28-29-30 Summit Point Circuit
    • June 11-12 Virginia Intl
    • July 1-3 Road America
    • Aug 13-14 Autobahn CC
    • Sept 24-25 Blackhawk Farms
    • Oct 14-16 Daytona Intl Speedway

i encourage everyone from NHMS to go to Summit Point. It's similar to Loudon but smoother and faster. VIR most people's favorite track if you ask around.

Does Daytona require a RED jug for gasoline or can people use whatever they happen to have? I know that NJ doesn't allow anything but RED for their fuel jugs.

that was one time on the downhill by the finish line with a tailwind and drafting someone. i was consistently getting 155 MPH with 0/+1 gearing, and 150-152 MPH with 0/0 gearing.

Been to Jennings a handful of times and loved each one. Hmm ... may I ask what dates in March? Have some family obligations during that month that I cannot skip out on.

March 12th and 13th. Its $300 for both days, open sessions. Probably $250 for the transport.

I'm hitting NCbike the weekend before on the way down, as well.
