It might be able to pull it, but I'm more concered about what the Toll will cost you going up I-93.

The towning capacity of the 1500's is around 7200lbs I think. That has to weigh at least 5000 all by its self. You would definitly need anti-sway bars and Load Leaveling Bars and electric brake controller. About a $1000 give or take..

That's even better I forgot about that. I could just see it now "Degsy's racing in 10 min. where is he? (Phone Rigs) Hellow Hellow... Degsy where are you.... I ran out of money filling the truck up for the 4th time going up to the track, then the Toll people told me it would be $50 to get thru..... Can anyone come get me" .

I think the gross weight is a bit more than 5000 prolly closer to 7500. with al the gear, bikes and tools you'd prolly be close to 10,000 by the time you done loading. Time to move up to the 2500 series naturally with a "hemi"

$1.50 each way. $0.75 for the pick-up, then $0.25 per axle for the trailer...

Forgot: (from the strange but true files) you can use tokens for your truck, but ya gotta pay in cash for the trailer...

now that is a trailer ., danm ................................. you would be pimpin in that thing ., not that far away either !!!!

the tow rating on the 1500 ram is 7550 ,.., and the new 5 speed trannies are 10 times better than the older 4 speed that always blew up ...... [i am a chevy man at heart, but could not resist the hemi]

mine is a 1500 4x4 quad cab ., and it tows like mad ., but gets shitty gas milage ., as i do 75 most all the time with the damn trailer., and get like 9mpg ..... too bad those desiels cost so much .........

A couple of words....Loose the Dodge, and pick up a Ford F350 Powerstroke diesel. My dad got one, not much it can't pull...Decent fuel economy too.

actually, the GM Duramax diesle is the "top dawg" for the past 2 years Yeah, at a $7,500 option, i can't see it ever paying for itself in fuel savings, and once you hook a trailer to diesles, the fuel economy drops at the same rate as a gas motor.
For what it's worth, my last 02 silverado 2500 2wd had a 10,200 lb tow capacity. DOT requires electric brake on any trailer with GVW of over 2500 lbs

No Derek, your truck will not safely tow that trailer

Well, for any consolation, dad's F350 is 3 years old, and went out the door for under 31k loaded with goodies, and a Fischer Plow to boot. The truck hasn't any problems since new, it just drives like a friggen buckboard, without a load in it...Got the Bulldog goodies in it, and pumping out over 650 ft/lbs of torque, isn't bad at all.

I wouldn't touch a GM with a 10 foot pole, I rebuilt more GM diesels than I wish to say....another reason why I got out of the trade....

How long ago was that? The new GM's are awesome and they have one of the quietest diesels going.

I wonder if my 1500 ram can pull this?

Nope, never worked on one...I hang up the automotive wrenches many years ago. I have heard that it is a great engine though....

Here's a little nibble of knowledge...You can't make a diesel run lean like a gasoline engine.

And only a diesel can use "compression braking", a gasoline engine can not. So when ever you hear someone say that their bikes or whatever, uses engine braking because of high compression, they are very misled.

I wonder if my 1500 ram can pull this?

I'm sure I could pull it without a problem.. lol. And as far as the diesels go the Cummins is the TOP of the food chain... lol. yeah the 47re had its weak points but the new 48re is the balls with the new 325hp 600ft lbs STOCK! We wont even go into how easy they are to pump up since these engines are way detuned for the pickup truck application they are in. Oh and the new Cummins is quieter than the powerstroke or duramax for those of you who can't take the noise..lol.
