    Woodcraft 'package deals'?

I don't suppose Woodcraft offers package pricing? I'm thinking rearsets/clipons/front and rear stands for one bike all in one shot, kinda a racer prep kit if you will?

They don't advertise anything like that that I've seen, but I'd give them a call direct, and see if they can help you out.

i know you're looking for woodcraft, and everyone likes to support the locals...but pitbull will ship for free if you order a front and rear stand with them over the phone. i was going to order a woodcraft front and pitbull stand, but pitbull's free shipping saved me a good amount of cash

I was mainly thinking woodcraft because they offer clipons and rearsets for my GS500E, so I thought... while I'm shopping there...

Guess it doesn't work that way. Was it powerstands that was going to offer contingency this year?

Sorry to hijack, but if I am satisfied with my footpeg position and have already converted to GP shift, would there be any benefit to aftermarket rearsets besides the solid mount footpegs?

And is it easy to find solid mount pegs that can fit into the stock rearsets?

The peg position for a race bike is Back further and higher then A street trackday bike. most of the time its an inch up and an inch back. And the damm things still hit the ground.

Right, I know that. The woodcrafts for my r6 go up and back 5/8" I think... since the pegs are already high stock... but like I said I don't need to move my pegs yet and I already converted to GP shift.

So I was wondering if there were any other advantages besides the pegs being solid and not sprung, and if not, can solid pegs be mounted to the stock rearsets?

I was thinking about powdercoating my stockies and getting solid pegs if they are available. BAM... saved 350 bucks, eh?

in ground clearance 5/8 is alot, As you get faster on the track the peg will dig into the asphalt(turn 2) or( turn 11) and lift your wheels of the ground, and lowside you, and that will cost alot more the $350.00

Makes sense. I guess I am just thinking until I am fast, which I am not now. Switching just the peg to a solid mount would make it a little more crash-worthy for the time being eh?

I nicked my peg feeler in turn 2 in september. Scared the living fuck out of me!

Save yourself the trouble and get the rearsets. You dont have to be fast to drag parts. Im not fast at all and I was dragging parts on my RC not to mention the toe on my boots.

If you toss it, instead of replacing the expensive stuff you can probably get away with a new peg and a nice deadblow hammer.

A lot is form too, early last year I was dragging hard parts everywhere. Once I got more comfortable on the bike the only time I dragged was coming out of 6 and trying to catch an upshift Id always drag my toe.
For all that matters I got woodcrafts this winter for the old shitter.

solid pegs also work as sliders if you go down...which can be handy.

I think a lot of that can be fixed with body (and foot) positioning though, no?

I figure once I'm fast AND dragging hard parts, then I will need rearsets.

Sounds like you need GP shift and then you won't drag at all!

Yeah that's what I was figuring... solid pegs would have saved me a couple 'character' marks back in sept...

I dont think I can go GP Shift on my EX, Ill hafta investiagte though. And it was more of a timing issue, I dunno if theres a bump there that Id catch, but if I did it in a window of timing I wouldnt catch anything. Plus hopefully the rear sets will bring my feet up enough.

GP Shift has noting to do with anything, (except grabbing that little up shift going up into 7) Your foot is in the same position, as well as your pegs.

Ahh I forgot you were on an EX. I'm sure someone has done it.

Maybe because the suspension squats a lot due to incline as you're coming out of that turn?

I haven't been on the track since I switched to GP... but so far I love it. Should be really helpful for making upshifts coming out of right-handers too, since you can stay hanging off and just tap down on the shifter.

But hey, I don't really know what I'm talking about

Your foot is on top of the shifter instead of underneath it...?

I think its more the act of sliding my foot under the lever is where it would catch, if I was pushing down I wouldnt need to get my foot under there. It was only in 6, cmon Dan, I bitched to you enough about that you should know by now.

    Re: Woodcraft 'package deals'?

You don't NEED rearsets on an R6, You're pretty much aware of the benefits, and no, you can't get solid mounts for your stocker...

but I would mention one more: They give a more rigid platform for your feet thant the cast stock peices. This translates into more feel for what the rear tire is doing. For a racer that is important.

And YES, you can and should make your EX GP shift. An old ZX-6 shift lever will do it, or you can cut and weld the linkage boss to the other side.

    Re: Woodcraft 'package deals'?

My foot is nowhere near the shifter, I move my foot to grab shifts, 99 % of the corners you dont shift when you leaned over,

Mat Maladin no GP shift seems pretty fast?

Kevin Schwantz Seems to work for him as well.

I am not Anti GP shift, I found it easier to stay regular because I also ride the dirt as well.
