I am not Anti GP shift, I found it easier to stay regular because I also ride the dirt as well.
Sorry to the OP that this has gotten so off topic.

I'm just listing my preference. If there are any disadvantages besides just needing to get used to it I'd like to hear them. I'm still relatively green when it comes to the track.

Another nice thing about it is that when under hard accel, it's easier to tap down as opposed to hook your foot under and lift up while trying to grip the tank with your legs at the same time, since the accel is pulling you backwards.

And then for downshifts, you're under braking and the decel is pushing you forwards, so it's easier to get under and lift up in that case.

if you want to gp shift set up on your ex replace your stock shift lever with a stock ex 250 shift lever one is top mount the other is bottom mount I have gp on mine and that is what i used

No worries, the discussion is one I likely would have instigated shortly anyways, as there is supposedly a GP shift kit add on for the GS500e rear sets. : )

    Carry on!

How hard is it going back and forth between a GP and international shift bike?

Once you learn it's easy. I ride GP on the track, standard in the dirt, standard on the road bikes......it's no big deal.

Yeah that's where I'm at now. One bike GP, the other standard.

I'm going to try keeping both the way they are. But, I may just keep a standard shift rod on hand in case I puss out on the first track day and can't do it. I just can't justify spending all that money on rear sets for the 675 to get it to GP.

Those things are a track day, and a chunk of tire money right there..
