I'm okay! Thank you for the wishes! I hurt like hell, spent a day in the trauma unit and have to wear a neck brace for 4 to 6 weeks, but it could always have been worse.
Now, given that I have a neck injury, I would love for someone to field my next question?
Why wasn't my helmet eject system used? You know, the thing we are all required to have in case of neck injury?

Jeez! I saw the Facebook post and was hoping you were alright. Glad to see you are. Relatively at least.
And I from what I've heard the eject systems are never used, and when they are, they fail. It's basically a money racket.

I guess I can thank my unique to LRRS regulation 6 inch number plates for keeping me safe
but seriously, I don't want to take anything away from the medical team. I'm still here thanks to them so they did a great job. I'm just a little butt (and neck) hurt that the eject wasn't used.

Philly is a tough guy, i was never to worriedi had a bad crash in the bowl last year and got knocked out. The emt's took great care of me but also did not use my eject system. My neck thankfully was ok and i got away with just a concussion. I wanted to give my thanks to everyone that came over to our pits and helped me clean up all of phills stuff and all the well wishes for the boke ass.
Good to see Phil was around this weekend! Looking a little stiff, but not too bad.

Yeah I might actually try to make a fuss about the Eject system. If it's going to be required and cost $75 then use it.
If the EMTs find them obsolete, then the shouldn't be required... It seems to be a money racquet.
And my neck is still f'd up, more x-rays today.

Good luck man, that is some scary stuff.
I think I reached my limit when the chief tech inspector, *admitted to me* that having me re-wire to avoid using a clip was a *less secure* solution to get through tech.
I mean.... when you admit it, then approve a bike you just said is less safe.... utterly bonkers. People's lives are at stake here and despite whatever BS is in the rulebook there's apparently zero discretion on certain things in tech, versus others that pass time and again.
Rules made under the guise of safety, better damn well be proven to be safer. Otherwise it's just a song and dance and I'm not OK with that when it comes to safety and riding bikes north of 100 mph.
A single clip, through a drilled hole on the oil pan (my oil pan has "fins" that stick down so you can rest the engine on them, one of these fins is right next to the drain bolt) which went straight / clear through the drain bolt itself and positioned so it can only be mounted when the drain bolt is torqued properly w/ a new crush washer. Not a clip on a piece of wire, but literally just the clip through a fixed piece of the oil pan and clear through the drain bolt. The oil drain bolt could not be moved in any direction and there is no "slop" whatsoever. Zero chance of failure.
I even offered to wire the end of the clip so it was impossible to move. Also, FWIW the same arrangement had cleared LRRS tech just fine for the past 2 years.
Yes it is in violation of the rule book, and the chief tech guy could have left it it at that. It was the agreement that my application of this was safer and more robust than wiring it, that is the real source of my issue here. But then again, I have issue with any "rule" under the guise of "safety" that is clearly not contributing toward the latter. I'm familiar with how clips can be used, and why they fail (often it's actually the safety wire TO the clip that fatigues due to it being bent / re-bent multiple times, or they fall out if the end comes unhooked). I'm also an engineer with a particular focus on systems safety for really dangerous shit. The whole experience, and the utter *dearth of reason* (or competence?) at tech is insulting, even more so when they make someone make a change that reduces the safety of the bike, and admits to it.
Regardless, I was told to come to the rules meeting, and I absolutely plan to.
So... how is proper wiring less safe or secure than your clip?
"Phil, from what I was told that you were unresponsive and they needed to get to your airway. Airway is the most important for us to get to so we can maintain it. However like this past weekend, I found multiple people having the eject kit in there helmets however no sticker on the side of the helmet that says Eject with an arrow pointing down or a little tag hanging down so we can pull the tube down and use it."
"Okay, I sort of follow you on that, but wouldn't the most common time to use the Eject system be when a rider is unconscious and unable to make others aware of a potential neck injury? I'm more concerned about the Eject system being nothing more than a waste of everyone's money, maybe we should require neck braces instead?"
"You're 100% correct but we are looking for the sticker and tag so if we don't see it, we do the old fashion way. 1 person holds the inside of your head and neck while the other one takes the helmet off. Maybe the crew didn't see your eject sticker."

So we are reliant on finding a sticker thats an inch long by a quarter inch tall and that sticker hasn't been ground off during a crash.
When is the safety banquet again?

Well..... I think there's supposed to be a sticker on your chin bar, too.
(but I'm with ya on the eject)

It is required that riders equip their helmet with the EJECT helmet ejection system. Http:/www.ejectsafety.com
No mention of where the stickers should be placed.
Also, if it's in the rulebook that everyone puts this in their helmet, isn't it safe to assume that everyone who has a helmet that passed tech also has an Eject System? Guilty until proven innocent?
I sent the photos of my helmet to the individual I was speaking with earlier. He says "Okay so I don’t know why they didn’t use it cause you can see that plain as day. I will work on it over the winter and with Ann-Marie on this."
