Why would anyone buy 2 or 3? Trying to make a profit I suppose.

One per bike, makes viewing stats easier and you don't have to worry about swapping between races?

    Re: Xtra xponders

Yeah, I sent an email asking for one, received a reply saying one would be held for me because there were only a few (3) left and to contact them to pay for it. Sent an email that night when I got out of work indicating I would call to pay the next day. Got an email the next morning indicating they were all sold and I would be put on the waiting list for some that might possibly come up for sale. So much for one being held for me....................

So, who knows about these transponder set ups? Looked around the internet the other day and saw that the same company makes transponders for go-karts, MX, cars and motorcycles. The go-kart units and the MX units are less expensive but look like the same transponder. I'm thinking maybe they operate on different frequencies. It would be good to know if the less expensive units would be picked up by the timing system at Loudon.

I think @120 or whatever they were priced at was a good price. But I also figured there had to be a reason to make us buy them.. I would bet the batteries are weak and they didnt want to nut up for all new ones.

So that being said, I am waiting to buy a new one.

They said that they actually tested all of the ones that they sold to us, and that some of the transponders they had were not sold because they were not up to their standards for selling.

Man, I am happy I picked one up the last race weekend.

The letter I received yesterday said that they looking into purchasing more, but they won't be at the $120 price.

You really think people will pay THAT much money, just for the convenience of not having to move the transponder to another bike?

Yeah, no... people are greedy. They bought extras to sell for profit.

Hindsight is 20/20, but they should have limited it to one per racer, then opened it up for "seconds" after the banquet or something.

I have no idea about any of this. I have to BUY my own transponder? Does it come with a charger?

No...you have to buy that separately. They will be available for purchase at the banquet for $35ish.

Charger is $35 and transponder WAS $120 but will likely cost more?
I don't think I can afford to race anymore.

Well now I really can't. It's like paying for 2 licenses. Cheap assholes can't even buy transponders to run their own series. They make us do it. Would've been A LOT cheaper to run the RFID tags that grahm has been testing.

They will not work... e.g., the tranx160 model is only good up to 100mPH
