So I was just looking at my gopro footage and comparing race results

....apparently I got lapped by Shane coming out of T4, on his way to a record setting lap in Unlimited GP.

At my 1:22 pace, he's just a speck by T10, and he's just sort of a speck by the time he gets around to the finish line.

I totally caught him on the brakes coming back into T3...to bad it was the cool down lap.

Just hope he didn't waste any time getting around me on that lap, but by the looks of things, he didn't....

I wasn't actually aware of how often/bad I was short shifting it until I watched this....but there are a couple things.

The first thing was this was not one of my better races...afterwards, adding a pound in the front and two in the rear gave me confidence that my tire wasn't going to liquify and have the bike buck me off.

The bike has a ton of torque, not as much as my 1198 had, but I'm still using as much power as I can without spinning up the rear. As long as it's above 4-5 grand, it's happy.

At 8-11 grand, the powerband really kicks in. Not quite as huge of a %age jump as an I4, but still a pretty big hit. Sitting back and thinking about it, I'm maybe trying to keep the power in a more usable range. Maybe I should use the little twisty thing on the right to control the power more instead of short shifting, but maybe I'm just a huge vagina.

I was watching him in the ASRA race from T3 and boy was he getting squirrelly coming out of T2. The last lap he really pushed it that front and rear end was slipping and he just shook his head and let up some going into T3. The next lap was a bit slower however he was still doing 99.9 % of everyone's PR. Fun to watch him.

Not sure how hard I want to argue for bragging rights for getting lapped, but here goes:

'Cause in the track intel results, his "best lap" was lap 4. The races were shortened to 4 laps Saturday, and he passed me on the last lap of the race.

It was just too hot for him to get there sunday, I think. Track temps make the tires and engines both unhappy when it's that hot (makes it all the more impressive that he got that close).

September, if it's nice weather, he can do it I bet.

You could be right, I heard the announcer talking about how he was corrected, but I thought that came down to Shane's being the fastest lap in the current configuration....which when we're talking tenths, or hundredths of a second, I'd imagine a different "configuration" might as well be a different track...,no?

He did not break it... eric had a 1.10.4 something on his ducati 5 years ago. That still stands on the current configuration.

Bruce called me on the radio to ask if I knew what the current record was. I had just done some research because that new website that lists the track records nationwide had Loudon wrong. They wanted documentation and I got it. A few days later Bruce called me and I gave him all the info off the top of my head.
The last reconfiguration of the track was in 2009 when the infield got its radical makeover. Eric set his record on May 30, 2010. 1:10.396. Steve Baron (and I agree) insisted that records can only be broken during a race, not during practice or qualifying.

Here's your documentation. Shane's fast lap last weekend was a 1:10.526. Look at everybody else's best lap while you're reading.

Nothing like realizing the guy I'm trying to beat now was running 15's 5 years ago. I suppose I could hope for rain. lol
