Yamaha building a factory R1 superbike

Just announced, Yamaha will be entering a YZF-R1 factory superbike in the 2004 AMA superbike championship....gulp.

That's gonna be one helluva ride. It's gonna debut at the Daytona 200.

My guess is Yamaha for the title, IF it doesn't wreck tires. I also predict 195mph at Daytona.

figure if they are quoting 180 at the crank for the streetbike...can only wonder what the racer will be making...My only concern is that the piston velocity is gonna be INTENSE!

I'll let you know how the street bike works out. My hand is back together just in time to bust it up again on my 04 R1! Now I need to buy some race plastic for it and go after that serious cranial injury I missed out on in my first header...

Degs where did you hear that?

    1. When did I ever give you the impression you were a friend?

    2. Have you found anyone to actually purchase that ancient Honda tanker yet? I'd say you should ask 3000 and I'll take it just to make you feel better and have the spare parts handy.

    3. As soon as anyone hears Kip bitch about the worries of throttle control coming off the corners on his new and faster practice bike I want to know about it! I got ten on a good highside within the first two race days

    Missed you guys

    Thank you Mike!!!!!!!
Is poor old guy just can't live with himself knowing he crashed on the warm down lap of a open practice session.

I don't know either? At the open practices they wave a checkered flag to let you know when your session is done. But to Scott it means slow down a lot going into turn 3 and then hammer it out of the corner and see how high of a high you can get.
