    Race Bike Makeover.....finally done

not that anyone cares, but i've been working on my race bike for like 2 weeks straight now. If any of you saw what it looked like after I hit the wall in T2...this is a big improvement. Not that it was THAT bad, but w/e.

I did all the paint myself (still new to the painting thing) and it seriously came out almost like a factory paint job.....new painted number plates with a 1/8" red pinstriping around them....came out great.

The subframe I found is still in the mail and isn't going to be here in time, so I had to strip the one out of my street bike for now. I put on a new woodcraft right side case cover and bent/straightened everything else.

I'm excited, can't wait to ride it!

That looks good. I like the pinstripes around the number plates. Subtle and nicely done. You ready to run with the big boys this week?! (coming from the novice)

it isn't an HVLP but i found this small "touch up" air gun that works really well....it still sprays at a pretty high pressure but I put a regulator on it, so it works great.

i sprayed the usual epoxy primer, then i used a single stage gloss black....way easier than bothering with a clear coat or anything (its a race bike....who cares) but it still has a really good shine on it.

i love the idea of being able to paint my own stuff

are you allowed to paint numbers on or do you have to stick on what they give you? i was going to suggest gold leafing your numbers on, that would look slick with the white and black.

You can paint them on but they have to be plain black and a specific type. The bike looks awesome, congrats on expert.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

    thanks man....

yea depending on what class you're in the numbers and plates have to be certain colors, and the numbers have to meet certain specs.

ha i know eh? oh well.

yea i'm fine, just frustrated with myself cuz i'm not even 100% sure what i did that caused me to go down. I kinda made a promise to myself that now i'm an "expert" i was gunna ride fast, but ride as safe as possible....that obviously didn't last long, i'm just glad i didn't take anyone else out with me.

we got the bike back together, but had to cannibalize my street bike to do so....so now peter has my original forks and i'm digging around for the rest of what I need.

    Race Bike Makeover.....finally done

so i ordered a race subframe from r-r-racing.com for $200, PK has my forks/triples right now, and i have an appointment with MC Rim Repair (or whatever they're called) in Keene on monday to get my front rim fixed. Anybody worked w/ them before? i'll let y'all know how it goes, he said it'd be like $125....$150 if its bad (which it isn't i dont think).

i've got the small rip in the bodywork fiber glassed and will be finishing the bodywork this weekend.

anybody have a clutch lever assembly i can buy? i need the actual part that clamps onto the clipon, and the cable tension screw.
