2004 Ninja EX250 Exhaust and Muffler Restoration...

I own a 2004 Ninja EX250 and would like to try to clean up my exhaust and muffler.

As you can see the exhaust pipe has a decent amount of rust. The muffler has some sort of blue finish on it which has become cloudy and splotched over the years.

Can someone recommend a way to stabilize and perhaps cover up the rust on the exhaust system? Also, can the finish on the muffler be restored with some sort of polish?

Thanks!2004 Ninja EX250 Exhaust and Muffler Restoration...-photo-jpg2004 Ninja EX250 Exhaust and Muffler Restoration...-photo-1-jpg

You can buy a full Muzzy exhaust for that bike for $350 new, or pick up a set of minty stock cans for roughly $100. Honestly, that route would make more sense than trying to recover your stock cans considering the amount of time and frustration it will take.

I just swapped out my stock exhaust for muzzy on my 06. The stock cans are in great shape, the bike has less than 3k miles on it (1k were from me this season). If you'd be interested in a new-ish stock system, let me know.

Out of curiosity, how much lighter are the muzzy silencers compared to stock, assuming they are lighter. I was surprised at how heavy those cans are when I removed them on mine the other day!

From what I've heard going from stock -> muzzy is about an 18 lb weight difference (assuming you also take out the center stand since it rubs on the muzzy). I was also quite surprised how heavy the stock cans are.

Wow, that's significant! Thanks for the info.
