    49 cc four stroke trouble

    help

So my scooter is misbehaving. Its a four stroke.

It intermittently bogs when applying throttle from
a stop. Its like I twist but the engine doesnt react.
Then after about 3 seconds it decides to accelerate.
Its like there are 1-2 dead spots between 0% and 100% throttle.
    But not all the time.

Does this mean the carburator jets are clogged?
A hose loose or cracked? Seems to have appeared after I adjusted the
idle speed up from 1000 to about 2000 rpm. related?

If you raised your idle to compensate for a problem, check your pilot jet (might as well do them all) - clean them with air, then safety wire.

Also check for leaks (squirt a soapy solution around the air boots)

    Thanks Kitt.

Its Frikken Denno's fault for selling me a cheap chinese POS!

    Just kidding dude!

Its actually quite a good deal for $500!
It saves me $5 in parking every day and maybe a $1 of
gas. I fill it up weekly and it only takes like $1-$2 of gas to
    filler up!

Just need to get this carb issue fixed up.

It does sound like a jet issue. I agree clean them with wire, air and a shot of carb cleaner.

i like to check for air leaks with either something like carb cleaner or starting fluid. if you RPM raises, then you know its sucking that stuff through. sometimes i'll use WD40. that'll make your RPMS drop because they switched the propellent to CO2. ( i believe?)

Where would these air leaks be? Between the air filter and the carb?

it could be the in boot between the air filter and the carb, but that would cause a mild lean condition. probably not enough to show the problems your getting.

if it is an air leak, its probably between the carb and the engine intake. the engines vaccum would suck "false air", that hasnt passed through the carb to take up gas along with it. it can cause all sorts of sputtering and stalling, but is less evident at high RPM.

    good luck!
