    Re: adjust clutch

If it's a cable clutch then there's a thumb adjuster on the lever perch. Adjust so you have about 5mm of play

If it's a hydraulic system, sometimes there's a bolt and set-screw on the lever near the piston.

That's the fine cable adjustment. There should also be a coarse adjuster at the other end of the cable where it meets the engine casing.

I would definitely pick up a service manual if I were you. You can download them off the net in pdf format.

    Re: adjust clutch

yup, if its really bad you wanna adjust it on the clutch cover connection, and then fine tune with the knob on the clutch lever

    Re: adjust clutch

And if you adjust both and still too much play, the cable is probably stretched and needs to be replaced...

    Re: adjust clutch

The adjustment is under the throttle bodies not on the side.

If the clutch squwaks its normal

    Re: adjust clutch

I may be wrong, but isn't the clutch adjustment a push rod under the sprocket cover

adjusters at each end of the cable only adjust the cable, not the clutch

the primary reason for clutches going bad and cables going bad is people fiddling with the cable thinking they are adjusting the clutch. while you can bring the clutch out of adjustment by fiddling with the cable, you can't adjust it properly unless you first adjust the pushrod

hense, it's probably just a clutch cable that needs adjusting.

Dave, if you're going to be making a trip up to the track this weekend to spectate, I can take a quick look at it when you're up there and show you how to adjust the cable from either end. I assume Suzuki uses a similar set-up on my SV.

    Re: adjust clutch

thanks guys..i know its only the cable and not the clutch itself case its catching at the right spot. its just the lever that is loose when you touch it. i think ill wait until i meet up with some of you guys and you can teach me. don't want to make it worse cause i don't know what im doing. maybe meet up on newbury and "pose" one of thses nights and do it there.lol. thanks for that that link for the manual. almost went out and bought one for 60 bucks! appreciate it.

    Re: adjust clutch

BTW, I dunno HOW loose you're talking, but it should be a *little* loose so that you know there's no more tension on the cable when the lever is fully released.
