    Bead blasting place and prices..?

Hey all... I'm sorta re-building my cbr f2 into a streetfighter and in that process I'm taking her all apart and cleaning and polishing her up along the way.

So I've dropped the engine out and have the frame and swingarm ready to go..
I'm thinking of doing the calipers, lower forks and triples as well.

So my question is... I'm looking for a place that does bead blasting around the Melrose/Wakefield/Reading area... Anyone know of a reputable place and know how much it will be to bead blast an engine, frame, swingarm, forks, and calipers..? I'm taking a stab and guessing around $200??

I've done bead blasting myself in the past so if a shop would let me do it at a discounted rate, that would be ideal, but I know thats prob not going to happen unless someone here owns their own cabinet.

If you want to see my tear-down and how freakin' dirty my engine is.. check this thread...
    CBR F2 Streetfighter

    Thanks!

what are you hoping to accomplish? can you just sand blast and be done with it...? I know any powdercoating shop usually has good sand blasting resources.. maybe try calling one in your area. I live in CT so I can't recommend a place local to you..

    I'm camaroguy72 on CF.

hhmmm.. I might do that but I only need to soda blast some things once and then I'm painting it.

I was looking into getting a compressor and doing this

    but I can't even afford a compressor!

I'm trying to clean my engine and other parts of all the paint and crap thats accumulated on it and get it ready for paint. I've tried almost everything to clean this shit off and its just a big pain to do it all by hand and get in all the corners and such... heres a pic of what I'm working with now...

    nasty isn't..

I'm also doing the fork lowers and calipers but that stuff I'll use aircraft paint stripper and then self-etching primer.

I'll look into the powdercoating places like you suggested and see what I find there... thanks!

I'd say I'd do it for you, but I cant fit an engine into my cabinet. Any local machine shop or PC shop should be able to do it for you.

Its just a little benchtop plastic cab that fits small parts. I dont think it would work unfortunately.

How you going to afford the build if you can't afford a compressor?

buying small parts here and there...

a good compressor will cost me at least $200.. and I'll spend that much on what I need to rebuild...

the only big purchase I still have to make is the ducati monster seat (and cowl if I can find a cheapie)

and HEL brake lines and then paint and painting materials and then I'm done!

I'm gonna borrow a friends MIG welder and fab a new subframe to fit the duc seat..

the rest is just re-finishing and cleaning everything. Which is just elbow grease from me (aka free)

heres the tank I did and am soon re-painting...

New to the site, and actually own a decent sized sandblasting shop with 6 cabinets and 4 rooms.

Too bad you're over one and a half hours away, i'm in Ludlow, MA.

I'm sure their a few places local, it shouldn't cost you too much.

    Good luck!

Cool project. I like the tank raw like that. It looks like an endurance beater tank.

Good luck with it and post some progress pics.

    thanks man!

I'm more over at customfighters.com.. I'm in the annual build-off there..

    check this thread here..

    http://www.customfighters.com/forums...ad.php?t=26261

I'm planning to paint the engine and frame gloss black with polished accent peice here and there.. tank and cowl will be dark blue with two white stripes (shelby cobra inspired) and my sexy white 6-spoke rims.

heres before-build concept pic I made while in the planning stages...
