Blue S#$% on + battery terminal

My truck battery generates a lt of blue flaky acidy stuff on the positive terminal. If I clean it, grease it with dielectric, it comes back very quickly. What does this mean? Battery holds a charge very well.

Corrosion. Is your truck stored in a moist wet area? Normally the terminals getting a bit of condensation on them is what causes the hydrogen released from the battery to start corroding the terminals. Best thing you can do is clean it off, smear battery terminal dielectric grease all over the terminal and make sure everything under the hood is dry.

Clean it with baking soda to neutralize the acid. then coat with grease. Once the corrosion is established, it is difficult to get rid of.

Coca cola works too, to clean off the corrosion.

Add an corrosion inhibiting felt washer after you clean it. Cheap $ at any auto parts place or Wally World. They don't prevent corrosion, just slow it to a manageable rate.

I've never had this issue with any of my vehicles (lie).

I attribute that to being of average height.

While you are under the hood check all your grounds.

Re: Blue S#$% on + battery terminal

If the cables are of different metals (ie copper or brass plated) this tends to happen frequently. Also if the alternater output is high (voltage regulator) and the battery is then putting out excess fumes then this would cause frequent excess buildup of corrosion. Also a battery at the end of its life cycle tends to put out additional fumes.
