Spent the last 3 trackdays fucking with my hawk to get it running right. Gave up and went to my carb go-to guy, Mark.

You know the drill, he fixed it in short time, heaps of adoration, he's the man, etc etc.

    Thanks mark :-)

And Paul didn't think I was right in saying Mark is THE fuel system guy here.

Even Degsy goes to him when he's having problems.

Well, it was never jetted for the full M4 exhaust on it so it had a stumble at partial or full throttle at about 6krpms. I read up and got the factory jet kit and pod filters I needed and went with recommended jets and needle position etc that all the hawk guys are running. It had a dynojet needle and drilled slides also so I bought new slides. Everything I did had it running rich above 5k. Would not pull under load no matter what I did with jets and needles.
I got it to mark and he came up with a jet/needle solution that works fine but may not produce maximum power but it's good for now. I'll try bigger jets later to seenini can extract more power. I never would have stumbled on the combo that mark ended with.

The main problem is that the carbs have been moddes with stuff blocked and other stuff removed. I had an idea that was the case all along but didn't have a stock set of carbs to compare to.

I can jet carbs just fine but when they are fucked with and are so far off I don't have the 'feel' or ear to get them ballpark to start really tuning them.

When I get a big bore kit I'll probably grab some flatslides and really release some power but for now she handles so well with the 55hp or so she probably has that I'm not worried about a few more horses.

Okay... so who would you nominate as "NESR Fuel System Master"? Cuz I'd also have to agree that Mark's the go-to-guy.

Re: Yet another boring "TLRman fixes my bike" thread.

i think what Bergs was trying to get at was, even though Mark is the most well known guy on the forum for knowing his stuff when it comes to bikes, im sure that there are plenty of other members that can also handle the job that may be closer to whatever individual needs help. while driving an hour to beverly isnt a huge deal to me i have no problem doing it (if mark ever got back to me ) but in order for people to know that other people are capable of handling the work they need to speak even if its via PM

EDIT: Had to clear a call at work but Oxx more or less summed it up as I was finishing my response.

As I've already stated, there is more than just a singular person on this forum who can do that type of work.

I'd hate to be a new person here in VT or northern NH or way up in ME asking for help and have someone tell me that, in order to have my fueling issue taken care of I'd have to drive 3, 4, 5 hrs because there is only one person who can do the work. It is simply inaccurate to suggest that.

Yes, many people have had incredible results and Mark clearly has an outstanding rapport here but he isn't the ONLY person who can do that type of work. That is all I've ever said. No fine print or hidden messages.

Mark - If you read this, I never have and never will have an issue with you on a personal level or with the work you do. None of anything I've stated here, that seemingly has people all sorts of butthurt, was with the intention of diminishing you or your standing with the members here. My apologies if you are taking it that way.
