    Is my chain jabunk?

After lending my bike to a friend for a bomo day I was told that my chain was super tight and needed to be adjusted after I know I set the slack properly. I took a look and I found that there are 3 or 4 links that do not sit/fit on the sprocket properly causing the chain to tighten up. I've never seen or heard of this so I'm wondering if it's the chain, sprocket or both?

give it a good cleaning in keronsene. take the wheel off and feel for kinks or frozen links. that should give you the answer

greg, are you certain your rear alignment is straight? those swingarm lines are known to be off.

When I did the chain and sprockets I used a laser alignment tool and it was dead nuts on the second line on both sides. I'm going to try the dowel through the pivet measwurement before I remove the wheel.

I appreciate it, erv3's aren't cheap so I'd much rather resolve the issue without replacing. Measurement was off a bit but while the axle nut was loose I decided to pull the tire and soak the chain.

    Thanks guys

Looks like I do, soaked it measured it mounted the wheel and it was the same few links. Just for giggles I put on a worn out vortex sprocket and it was the same links giving me trouble. The sprocket looks mint and I have a spare so chain it is. Thanks Jim :hugs:

Your chain is jabunk. If it were me i would cut out the bad links and take some out of a spare chain, use two rivet style masters and viola ride!!

Don't forget to tighten you oil drain plug.
