If you have a bleeder that's leaking by the threads even when seated, you need a new bleeder screw. The screw seals at the seat, not the threads. Ideally the bleeder is softer material than the caliper body, so if someone JAMMED it in there in the past, the conical tip of the bleeder is what deformed and not the caliper itself. Brake fluid will do mean things to teflon tape, so at best you've only delayed a repair by trying to fix the problem that way.

repeat 4 thru 7 as many times as needed to get fluid to start coming out.

i can see now that this would work. i missed a ride last week because i changed breaklines and couldn't get the fluid to flow. felt stupid. ended up buying the pump for $30. made things much easier. only take few minutes.

If a vacuum bleeder doesn't work then I would guess you either have air getting in somewhere or there's a bubble in the master.

All good but I often only get solid brakes by bleeding the bango same as
    bleeder screw

crack while slowly pulling lever and if you can shut off before lever bottoms

rinse and repeat...joke do it till you don't see bubles plus 1... also sometimes after 1 week when use has got the air moving up in the system

Rich has a good point. If the reservoir end banjo is uphill from the reservoir, you can crack the banjo for a split second with a cloth wrapped around it. I have had to do that once or twice also.

    derek
