    Brake question

Ever since the KTMs little "incident" yesterday Ive noticing some weird brake dealies (then again, I never noticed before, but it could be in my head) I was getting SOME brake fade before its incident, and really noticeable after. However, after when I grabbed brake some fluid would come out of 2 little breathers I guess in the cap. I pulled the cap off, and the fluid level was low so I filled it to the fill line, put the cap back on, and squeezed the brakes again and fluid is still coming out of the "breathers" or whatever they are. Little notches cut on either side of the cap. I dunno if its just excess fluid caught somewhere from being on its side, or if theres a problem. What should I check, or should it be alright after a while.

Could be the diaphragm is blown. Hard to tell from here.

    Re: Brake question

try flushing it through, cleaning and checking all the connections. the little incident might have just upset it a little. or ride it and see if the fluid goes down, something might have cracked or loosened..

    Re: Brake question

Brake systems don't have "breathers" or anything that would allow air or fluid to pass in or out of the system. Something is wrong my brotha.

Ummm Noel, yes they have "breathers" however it's more of a relief passage than anything.

Every single hydraulic braking system I've ever seen has a passage of some sort near or part of the resevoir cap which allows the diaphragm to extend as the pads wear out and more brake fluid is required at the caliper.

    Re: Brake question

My resevoir has has a plastic washer that sits on top of the diaphragm, between it and the cap. Maybe replace the diaphragm and that washer, if yours has one? Maybe it's cracked or warped.

Is there a check valve or something in the master to prevent the fluid from back flowing into the resevoir? Maybe that or something is broken, if it exists. I can take the cap off and pull the lever to the bar without worrying about fluid over flowing out of the resevoir

Start with a good bleed including banjos

    sounds like air

check for rotor damage as if its swash plating (not running true) it can act like a pump
