    New Brakes

How do you know when you need new brakes? Every so often mine squeal after it rains, but it stops after a few minutes.

    Simple:

Is the braking performance much less than it used to be?
Maybe pads are glazed and contaminated, replace.

Also there is a groove cut in the brake pad material,
when the groove is gone you should replace the pads.

If you do need brakes... Pads before my last set were Vesrahs. They lasted forever and felt great. They'll be my next pads when the EBCs wear out (won't take long, EBCs last me 5000 miles or less).

Your rotors are probably slightly rusted after it rains, too... Your brake pads clean them off over a few minutes.

Can some one tell me if Vesrah's last a long time, then they are hard on rotors?

While you get EBC's that wear out fast ... then these are easier on rotors?

How do you know if your rotors are too worn?

Generally - pads that wear out faster are easier on the rotors. Rotors are worn when you can see deep gouges in them (from worn pads, etc), or they have worn uniformaly past the minimum thickness stamped on the rotor.
