    New Brakes

Getting the bike ready for riding season and I need to put new brake pads/rotor on a 00 Honda F4. I bought all the parts at the end of last season (Thanks Ted), and was wondering whether I should try to do it myself, or just pay someone to do it. Normally I would at least give it a shot, but brakes really aren't something I want to screw up, since I kinda like living. Don't have a ton of mechanical prowess, and don't wanna kill myself. Basically, if I buy a Clymers guide and spend some time on it, will I not screw it up too much?

Pads and rotors are pretty easy. I would say that you can handle it.

once you get the wheel off you should be able to figure out how to change the pads/rotors without any trouble.

Just be careful Sometimes the Rotor bolts have locktite on them If they dont come off easy You may want to add a little heat. I have snapped a few in my day.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. Just didn't want to get everything apart and realize that I have no clue what the hell I'm doing. Are there any special tools needed?

To remove the Rotors you need a 6mm allen wrench A socket type one is best it would be hard to get the leverage you need. with a little one.

    Re: New Brakes

Finally did this on Saturday and wasn't bad at all. Did rear pads and rotors, as well as the front pads and an oil change in about 2 hours. Thanks for the advice, and Bergs, I really appreciate the offer.
