    Should I buy it?

Been searching for a dirty toy for the soon to be Mrs. Found a VERY (red flag) cheap TTR 125 nearby. Asked him how the bikes running all that crap, he says lately its been having a tough time starting, asked him the symptoms, he replied with "hard starting and won't idle. carb boiled out twice. I think possible a coil". Dont have a clue what that means, should I look into it more, or run far away.

I know no answers other than the one response he sent me. Just wondering if its worth my time and money to buy it and work on it.

Without seeing it, no way to tell. Could be a diamond in the rough, could be a 92 WR250 off Craigslist...

Ask him how he likes to season his "boiled carb". Then ask him if he has ever done a compression or leak down test.

Dont wanna ask too many questions, cause he might fix it and the price would go back up (He already said so if he fixes it). Oh well, Ill spend the money and get one thats running.

Buy it, check it out and if it is something serious move it on or part it out.
Could be the pilot jet or valves, I have had a few of those over the years and used to go up a size or two on the pilot jet as they can be hard to start from cold.

run away...if it's an easy fix, he'd do it

he likely realized that it's a financial grenade and is hoping to find some other idiot who thinks they can get a good deal fixing it up

if it's under $500 and the idling issue is the only problem, go grab a $40 compression tester and go look at it and take compression...

OR, buy it and if it has poor compression, fix it with a BBR big bore kit

I have a spare ttr at my brothers that has something going on in the bottom end, may be able to scalp some parts for you.
