    Cam Chain Tensioner help.

    2006 gsxr 600

I thought I could breez through this but not so much.

Im relpacing the worn out stock tenstioner with a manual one.

ok, so im cranking over the engine the right way but Im having a hard time feeling if, or when the adjuster is making contact with the glide ect.

Im suposed to feel it contact then back out 1/4 turn then tighten down. But I dont know if I have it to tight or loose against the slide/glide cause its hard to feel.

    any tips.

Perhaps a spot of oil on the adjuster's threads may help you feel "contact" with the timing chain guide?

if you can get all the slack on the tensioner side of the chain (this will only be possible at certain parts of the 720 degree rotation window) AND if you can turn the adjuster by hand (or with a very short wrench to minimize your leverage) you should be able to tell when it make contact by it suddenly getting harder to turn.

ok yeah. I noticed when turning over the engine the chain gets tight, then slacks a bit. so that was my problem. Should i adjust it when there is slack in the chain or adjust it when there is tension to it?????
