    Changing a fork seal/fork oil??

Is this something I could do, or should i give this to GMD?

The forks are my old Falco forks i replaced, I just want to replace the fork seal and replace the lost oil and then sell the forks. I will do the other fork as well so they have an equal amount of fresh oil and seals.

If I can do it myslef I can save $ and sell these easier/cheaper...

If you want to do it right and take the forks apart - dig around on the interweb and see what special tools are needed, and if you need to deal with an internal cartridge...

I may be able to supply a front stand. What size pin does your bike take?

I have a front stand, and have ways to adapt to different pin sizes...

If your doing this in Ashland let me know I can bring the stand over. If elsewhere let me know so I can plan out getting it to you.

I just ordered the fork seals, so I will most likely be doing these within the next few weeks. No rush as these are off the bike and going on the market when complete. along with the entire Mille front end!

Re: Changing a fork seal/fork oil??

Not too hard at all. But if the falco has a preload setting you might want to look into spring compressors, and a correct size slide hammer is the best way to get the seals in correctly. You can use long pipe type clamps a-la home depot for spring compressors, with a couple big tie wraps around them to keep the tubes in line, but putting the seals back in around the tubes without a slide hammer is not going to be easy. I'd say you'd have probably a 90% chance to wreck them.

You will regret doing this yourself. Too many pitfalls and special tools make the job much easier. Ill do anything on a bike but take forks or a shock apart. Damper rod forks are fine but those cartridge forks...I pay a pro to do it.

That would be for a revalve. If you bring your forks in for a seal/oil change, you should be out of there for $200 or do.
