    929 service ideas

Hey gang. I am looking for some input to make sure I don't miss anything. I picked up a 929 last fall and am getting it ready for spring. Road/track. I have new rubber for it. I am probably putting SS Brake line on front this year. Bike is in great shape even though it has 33k on it. Are there any quirks with the 929 that you have experienced? I haven't measured sag yet. This requires having a friend. LOL

    Re: 929 service ideas

    John,
The 929 had two recalls for a certain range of VIN's.

One recall was with the clutch plates and the other I can't remember to save my life....you should be able to give a reputable dealer your VIN and they can tell you if there are any "opens" remaining on your bike. The recalls affected only a small number of 929's.

Some riders have complained about excessive head shake, though I have not seen this on mine so far. As you know, a steering damper corrects that issue.

The OEM cam chain tensioner ("CCT" to save on typing) has been known to get weak and a reasonable amount of cam chain noise can be heard in the upper RPM's. Many owners replace with an adjustable type.

EDIT: Another thing--> Wheelies seem to be a huge problem affecting all 929's....I haven't come across a fix and nothing was done to correct this from the factory...sorry to say it, but you're on your own with this one.

No all I need to find is a reputable dealer. I will somehow manage to work around the wheelie thing. I have had the same problem with my other bikes.
