    Clutch lever vertical play

I replaced the OEM levers with the aftermarket levers and white the break lever sits perfectly the clutch lever has a bit more than I'd like of a vertical play. I'm thinking to slot a thin washer to tight it up somewhat but thinking to avoid any resistance it might cause. Any suggestion on the material - nylon, copper? Will it matter? Thx

Can you squeeze the perch with a clamp a bit (while lever is removed) to take up the play? If bike was in a tip-over it could have spread the perch a bit.

Nope. The bike was never on its side.

Yep, the Chinese levers that look like a very good quality product.
Does it matter what material the washer is made off? To avoid any additional friction.

The flop doesn't really bother me...... but it did on the wifes Grom. I ended up using some plastic ones from an old wind screen.. just a little lube also helps get the pin in

I'd think anything that doesn't swell or gall would be fine. Clutch levers are typically anodized AL, sometimes w/ a bushing right? An oilite bronze would be nice but doubt you'll find something thinner than 1/16". So I'd say teflon or nylon since you can get them in pretty thin versions. And don't go nuts trying to get all the play out.

Yes, I relocated the bushing from the OEM lever to the new one. The play is actually not that bad, I might be just too anal about it.

Use an exacto knife to cut a couple little washers out of an old milk jug.
This also works to make low-friction washers between grips and the throttle housing.

    Re: Clutch lever vertical play

that happened to me on my sv650, I discovered the whole clutch perch assembly was relatively inexpensive ($30±) so I just replaced the whole shebang

    why fuss?

let this thread be a reminder that lubing the pivots on your leavers is part of routine maintenance

Drill a hole in a correct thickness guitar pick and your bike will rock!

Randy, the clutch perch is a few months old and in great health. Why replace. The lever might be just a bit thinner than the OEM.

I tried to learn how to play guitar as a teenager. I am a tone deaf like a doorknob. Would not know where to buy one.
