I need some guidance, here, folks.
Coppah is a 2003 SV1000s (but you knew that already). I've put on 4800 of the 6500 miles on the odometer in the two and a half years I've owned her.
A year ago, I rode to D.C. and back with no issues. Two months later (July of last year), the vibration in the bars made the Ben 'n Jerry's ride a misery on the slab back.
Now, the vibration in the bars is such that just a half an hour on the highway is enough to cause serious pain in my right hand.
When cold, the engine just makes ticking noises. When warm, it goes thock-thock-thock at idle. The problem doesn't seem to be clutch-related; the knocking sound doesn't change with the clutch in or out, or under load. The vibrations are definitely related to engine speed, not road speed.
Could this be the mysterious bad-bearing issue the '03s were rumored to have? What the heck to I do?
The service manager at Cycles 128 didn't return my call (no surprise there). Who's got a decent shop that won't hose me?
Don T.
P.S. I already PM-ed TLRMan; no reply yet. I've also gone to sv-portal and svrider.com; I'm still slogging through the posts there.
