    Re: Daytona 675 Clutch

    Just a thought:

Would a faulty variable exhaust valve cause this problem? I had the code for it, and all I did was take it apart, unseized the cable, and put it back together and the code went away and stayed away. I did this immediately before the track day when it started to slip.

    Bike is back in action!!

Variable exhaust was stuck shut, why it wasn't throwing a code is beyond me. I disabled it, and am now living with a check engine light.

It only cost me a new clutch, and a set of chains/sprockets to fix a free problem, but hey, I'm super happy and its stuff i needed anyway!

I forgot how fast this thing was! I was running 1:30s at the trackday with the problem, I'm very excited to see How I do with a bike that actually has a motor this time around.

Thanks for everyones help, especially you Chris, and I'll see you at the track!

I'm confused. FYI a slipping clutch will make the revs shoot to the rev limiter when it slips. A blocked power valve makes the power just stop when the revs get to a certain level. If the revs didn't climb super fast when the power dropped off, you shouldn't have been looking at the clutch v

Anyway, glad you are back on the road! You probably did need the clutch and chain/sprockets soon anyway.

    Degs.

yes, that would be why it's "struggling"

didn't think to check it at the time...you should just remove it as it causes problems. it will trigger a check engine light, which I can reset for you at the track. I'd also remove the SAI valve (secondary air intake) which is the flapper in the ram air duct in the front of the bike. leave the wire plugged in though as it will stop the bike from throwing a CEL.

this is exactly why i didn't think it was the clutch.

however, the power didn't stop, more like it felt like it was being held back. honestly i saw the chain and didn't think anymore about it (really, never seen one stretched that bad )

It was a bad diagnoses by me, for sure.

And yes, my chain is in rough shape, and my clutch has some significant wear in it as well. Plus i dropped a tooth in the front, so this thing is going to be a whole different beast.

Figured I'd bump this to see if any of these guys have some advice for me. I just got the above problem on my last lap of the last session of the day (how lucky). I never noticed any slipping, but I was in 4th gear rolling on for the straight (Thompson) and all of a sudden I had nothing. The bike clicks into every gear, but revs like it's in neutral.

Tried loosening the clutch cable to see if it would grab, still nothing. Going to completely disconnect it later and see if it grabs at all. Either way, I'll be pulling the case off to see what's going on.

Any knowledgeable input on this? If it was just the clutch, I would think I would've noticed something before it completely went.
