    Decrease in Gas mileage.

I changed the oil/filter and the back tire of my Sv650s about 600miles ago. Since then I have noticed about 5- 7 miles/gallon decrease in gas mileage.

Suzuki oil/filter was replaced by Mobile1 synthetic and generic filter. The rear tire is the same. MEZ4

My riding style haven’t changed and the commute is pretty much the same. The only difference is I am getting gas at different gas stations. I doubt that’s the problem since I have tried 3 or 4 different gas stations already. Same results at all of them

Any idea what cause the decrease?

Have you checked the condition of your air filter lately? A dirty air filter can easily cause that too...

You are quoting some fairly precise numbers, how did you obtain them?

How is your air filter looking? Plugs? Check alignment of swinger, how is the rear tread looking, uneven wear? Brake pads contacting? Put it on a stand and spin the wheel to see.

That was my next question. That and how consistent has the loss of mileage been? How many miles on the bike?

Did you change it with a thicker viscosity oil than the original stuff?

    Decrease in Gas mileage.

So far it's been 600 miles, about 4 fill ups, each time I calculate the # of miles since last refill with the # of gallons I had to put in to fill the tank. Each time I get about 5-7 miles less than before.

I don't know about the thickness of the oil. Anyone know if there are a difference between Suzuki motor oil vs Mobil 1 synthetic (red cap)

I’ll check the airfilter & plugs this weekend, but I doubt that’s the problem since the mileage drop happened right after the oil and tire change. Maybe the breakpad is contacting.

Okay, wait a minute. You needed new tires after only 600 miles? Or is it that you changed the tires 600 miles AGO? I'm looking for the total miles on the bike...

Have you changed tire types/brand/size? Checked the air pressure in 'em?
