DIY help or service shops in the Peabody area?

Hi I'm new and I was wondering if anyone knew of any place near Peabody to get their bike serviced?

I'm new to riding and I'm not sure if it is DIY help I need or if is should take it to a shop?

I own a '95 Kawasaki GPZ 1100. i need to have a couple of things done, i think i can do them myself but i also need an inspection sticker.

any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!!

    Chris

I haven't talked w/ Mark in years, but Breaklites right in Peabody always seemed to treat people right. They do a lot of custom work, but they're a full service shop.

Sure thing. Depending on what your bike needs, theres no shortage of smart people willing to help out in exchange for beer around here too. Might save you a few bucks.

Re: DIY help or service shops in the Peabody area?

I only need a couple of things. I want to tighten the chain, but not sure what the correct way to do it is.

Some minor (i'm hoping) electrical work, one of the signals flashes but does not work as a parking light, and the front brake doesnt trigger the brake light.

    Any advice?

for the chain....you tube has some good vids on how to....basically you adjust the wheel....but make sure it really needs tightening....measure the slack...specs should be on the swingarm.

as for the turn signals...i think you just need a new bulb...they are double contact and the parking one must have gone out.

front brake light...does the back brake trigger the brake light? if not..must be the bulb too.

Brake light is easy. There is a small (very small switch that is depressed when you squeeze the brake -that is most likely gone. It is a dealer part but typically between 10 and 20 bucks and it just screws or snaps in place. Just call the dealer and ask for a front brake switch.

If you decide to bring it to a shop Breaklites is the place. Its right on rt 1 North. Mark has treated me very well over the years and has taken good care of many of the members here and riders in the local area.

FOr an inspection since your in Peabody, Geata's towing on rt 1 south does motorcycle inspections. Its right after the lake st exit and before Spinelli's.

3rd in for Breaklites. Mark is a great guy. Or the best option is learn to do that yourself.

Best answered in a PM or in person. The last thing we want are the shops that are lenient to be looked into because of a post online. I have no knowledge of how Sacco's is. Where abouts in Peabody are u?
