The Army had "Morale Support" facilities at Fort Knox and Fort Benning. They had full tools and power tools and IIRC a paint booth. They also had civilian instructors on staff to help you out.

You had to take a basic safety class, then to use anything technical you had to take another class. They punched your card to show you were "qualified." I did some body work on my 1964 Beetle and converted it from 6 volt to 12 volt. The civilians also knew where the local junk yards were as well as the best part stores.

A club activity seems like a possibility. Yankee Beemers has over 500 members. $30 each a year would be $15,000.

They still do this up at Hanscom but you need to be either a civilian or military that works on base. Maybe I should join the reserves.......

I wonder if a place like the Artisan Asylum would be interested in having facilities on site for Motorcycle stuff. I am sure it could bring in new members and people interested in DIY classes.

...........It could be like a malignant tumor

The steelyard in providence specifically does not allow motor vehicles or motor vehicle related work to be done in their shop, per their insurance requirements. I would guess Artisan Asylum is the same. Maybe Gman would know

The Artisan's Asylum has at least one motorcycle shop operating inside of it.

Madhouse Motors. Not sure it's the kind of place you can swing by, but they have multiple locations (I think Cambridge, Somerville and somewhere in Western Mass).

The spaces at the Artisan's Asylum are glorified cubicles, but some are bigger than others.

So I stopped by the artisan's asylum today. They allow you to work on a motorcycle in there but there is a catch. Massachusetts does not allow any gasoline indoors therefore the cannot be any Gas in the building.

The place was pretty cool. A bunch of nice tools and machinery. It stinks about the gasoline thing though.

Napa sells cheap gas siphons that have the ball in one end. We use them all the time at the track. It makes taking gas out and into a gas can a one minute job. Fwiw.

This. Sometimes you have to add some gas to the tank to give you enough room to jiggle the ball, but these work pretty great.

Hi guys I haven't posted here in a while but come back lurking time to time. Anyways saw this post a thought I'd throw this out there to any reasonable NOT sue happy people...

I have a professional shop that I would rent out for $20 per hour (plus consumables) (maybe less for big projects)
I'm a semi retired mechanic (I'm too young to actually be retired but do dog rescue stuff more than shop stuff lately) so the shop is often empty these days

Located just outside of Keene NH
    10k 2 post lift
    miller 220v mig
    oxy/ace torches
    bandsaw
    press
    drill press
    motorcycle wheel straightening machine
motorcycle, boat, asian automotive specialty tools
every hand/power tool ever made... almost
    parking, indoor storage

I could also for small money give guidance on carb rebuilds, forks, engines, fab work ect. You just got to have a flexible schedule

Seems smart though Keene is away

I would suggest that after some one has "rented" a few times and does not seem to be a jerk that you
organize as a club so buy in plus dues.

I've been trying to figure out how to open a DIY garage with tool sign-out for some time now. Not that I have the capital myself, but if the right location opened up in Boston it's something that could have potential.

Re: Anybody want to open a DIY motorcycle work space?

Would love something like this around Portland but not so much for tinkering, more for big jobs and access to welding and metal tools, most everything else I can do in my shed with cheapo Harbor Freight tools. Imagine insurance would be a nightmare for anyone starting something like that..
