    Dropped bike... :(

So I went to my bro right after work to take a little nap before Bike Night (I am on call this week and last night I got an hour of sleep...). Well, I parked my bike in my bro's driveway. Right when I woke up I here a bang...I thought it was someone coming home, but I didn't see anyone. I look outside and I don't see my bike, so I race out. There she was lying on her side on the pavement. The bike stand had went all the way into the driveway because it was so hot and the people who paved it last year didn't put a solid top layer to it. My left turn signal is beaten up, my clutch is whacked, the left handle end bar is busted, so the vibrates at high speed and I rashed up the rear tails and left fairing. Not only that, my new used helmet got rashed up bad. All in all, I'm not having that much luck with this bike. The removal of the slip on was a biznatch, there were missing screws for the fairings and the windshield and now this. This really sucks and I'm somewhat depressed about it because I HATE having my toys banged up.

So I was wondering if there were people on this board that knows how to fix rashes, repaints, installs flush mounts, fix handle bar ends, and check out the vibration in the handle bars.

Derek, do you handle any of this stuff?

Man, what a depressing day. I get no sleep and now my beautiful bike is banged up.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    WIL

btw. if people can help me out with this stuff, maybe we can do a trade of some sort. Your labor for the gear I'm selling.

That sucks. Get yourself a small piece of metal to put under your kickstand on the pavement - small enough to fit under your seat or in your pocket. I put somehting down whenever I park cause my bike is a 550+ lb pig.

I purchased a kick stand plate at the last bike night, but I forgot to bring it. I am going to leave it in my jacket now, so that I'll always have it if I ever need it. I'm didn't think that the pavement is still so weak...

Seems to be that all black tar in the heat gets to be hot enough to bury the kickstand. Think of the amount of weight on such a small spot.

I'm lucky enough to have a good friend that's a machinist.....

same thing damn near happened to me few days ago, good thing a friend noticed it. My kickstand had dug about a 1-1.5" hole in the soft pavement. So now i keep a plate velcroed under my seat at all times just in case.

Hey that's an awesome idea to leave it velcroed to the underside of the seat...

I always keep one with me but it kind of sucks having that in your jacket all the time... I'll have to see if I can velcro mine like that.

make sure you get the heavy duty stuff like this , that regular stuff may not hold up too well.

Ouch. You could always use a crushed aluminum can under the sidestand.

This is the main reason why everyone should get flush mounts.... a little tip over and cause major problems... not only rash but full breakage.

that looks like alot of damage on the tail for just a tip over.

Looks like a lot for a tip over to me too. More like a 10mph lowside??? Either way, it sounds like you found someone to fix it up.

Aluminum electrical junction box covers make great kick stand plates. Available in round or square at your local hardware store for about 50¢

it's great to have something nice for a kick stand plate. but in last minute situations, you can use almost anything. even a piece of paper folded into 8ths would work very well. sometimes i would just find trash around... or stomp on a soda can or something... I am especially aware when i visit friends home or their parents houses... cause I know they would be very pissed off if I put holes in their driveway.

I was thinking the same thing. But, either way good luck getting it fixed up. That shit happens. Doesn't make it suck any less, though.
