I'll let someone with more experience than me chime in -- paging ScottieDucati! -- but 2V engines are really very simple to work on.
My first 2V Ducati was a 900SS and I did all the work myself and I'm a hamfisted fuckhead. :emo:

Well, I understand your hesitance, it's not for everyone...
But, I don't tackle this stuff during the riding season, and it sure felt good when the bike fired up no problem a couple days ago. And successfully rebuilding my forks (for the first time), I literally couldn't sleep I was so psyched!
