    EX250 Fuel Issue

I have a 2004 EX250 that stalls out sort of randomly. It acts as if a float(s) are sticking up and not allowing fuel to enter the carbs. I've noticed that the fuel filter is full of gas when this happens. After pulling the carbs and cleaning them out, the problem persists. Anything else you EX'ers can suggest? petcock maybe? I appreciate any input.

ps. this bike will be for sale, 900$ ish.

decent pirellis, k and n filter, woodcraft adjustable clip ons. missing plastic, single round headlight. inspected and registered, clean clear NYS title.

    Re: EX250 Fuel Issue

EX 250's are know for pilot jets getting plugged easily if you don't ride it and don't stabilize the fuel. Pull the carbs and run a wire through all the jets and orifices.. A bread twist tie is the right size for the pilot jets.

Carb vent lines in bad shape? If the carb can't breathe, you can have fuel in the line and it won't enter the bowl.

    Re: EX250 Fuel Issue

While you're at it, check the fuel flow through the petcock... Might not be the solution to your issue, but if it's the same as the one on the EX500 it's a vaccuum unit that's prone to failure & it's easy enough to check. Just pull the hose off the carbs, lead it to a fuel container & key the starter to get vaccuum pressure. If it has a weak flow, there's your suspect.

I wish I did it back when I first started having issues w/ my EX500 cutting out...
If I had I wouldn't have DNFed pretty much every race during the first 3 race weekends last year
