Anyone Have Experiance With Weak Charging System On Their TLR

I have recently replaced the battery, rectifier and stator and I am still having issues with weak charging. I have heard that there can be problems with the wiring harness in general, does anyone have any experiance with this on TLs

Got the same problem on my TL. The only thing I have seen is the same thing you mentioned that the wiring harnesses are not so well put together on our bikes. I have yet to pull mine apart and fix all the connection points, maybe next winter for something to do.

Have you checked out tlzone.net (formerly tlplanet)? There are a ton of TL owners over there that have a wealth of knowledge about the bike.

Wish I could chime in with something helpful here. TL's in general (S's & R's both) seem to be afflicted with this. My battery only lasted 3 years. From what I've been learning, I'm not in the minority...

Alfred put a manual light switch on his that turns the headlight OFF all together. Pretty slick...

well I have since found out that it had nothing to do with the lights and while the lights do draw a decent amount of power from the system it still should have been some what close, the replacement stator I had put in was bad when tested I was only getting 40VAC across each leg of the stator so no more aftermarket stuff for me when it comes to charging systems, I replaced that one with an OEM one I purchased from RonAyers.com and I also swapped out the stock power and ground cables with something a bit heavier gauge, when tested I was getting slightly better results than what the service manual quoted so I am happy again.

I appreciate everyone trying to help and put there two cents in, dont have a whole lot of twin owners out where I am let alone TL owners, thanks guys.
