    fizzer fork seals

how hard is it to change fork seals on a FZR600... my roomates failed inspection cause it needs em, so we got a project on our hands... since we will have the forks apart... what other stuff should we look into doing? springs? valves anything else?

anyone with experience want to look over our shoulders?
any specialty tools we will need... like something to unweigt the front forks?
how long of a job is it if you know what you are doing? that way i can budget about 8X that number of hours to get it done.

If they are cartridge forks it shouldn't be too bad.. If they are damping rod style I have no idea.. The valving is pretty simple Degsy and I did mine in about 1 hr total... To unweight the forks you can use jack stands under the engine cases or you can get a tripple tree stand. A fork seal driver can be made with pvc and a piece of wood. So plan a day with a manual. If you don't have a manual call that dude Chocolate341??? His name is in the review section.

I don't know if this helps but good luck

    Done!

Requires some special tools like a 4 foot section of PVC pipe and a 3 foot piece of 5/8" threaded rod.

    M I C - K E Y ... M O U S E......

But we got the fork seals done and yup they are damper rod style forks, put 15W fork oil in rather than the stock 10W to firm up the front end a bit.

As a bonus, discovered that if you take the right handle bar thingy off the fork and hang it down the side of your bike, you'll have to bleed the brakes.

Oh, and a 94 FZR gets exactly 158 miles to the tank, and about 300 feet on the reserve tank. Any idears on whats up with that, pushing a 400 lb bike to a gas station yesterday smoked pole.
