    Fork Sliders?

My buddy recently went down and scratched up the bottoms of his front forks. I went down earlier this season and scratched up the bottoms of my forks. Why isn't fork sliders popular? Are there any downsides to having them? I've seen them on Ducatis. They small, low profile, and a great idea.

I put a pair on my TL. They didn't look so hideous that I had to take them off.

I put some on my race bike. I just used skateboard wheels and allthread through the axle hole. It cost me about 9$.

I keep on snapping mine off...it's getting annoying.

If you want you can go look for em scattered around the track.

Look at all the bikes on the road without frame sliders. I think its just a preference thing, or people just font know about them.

We are working on some at Woodcraft....goal?....adding no more than 5 seconds to a wheel change.

Hopefully coming in late 2012 / early 2013. Patent Pending.....

Nice! I was actually thinking of calling you and asking you about them for future production!

    Re: Fork Sliders?

i didnt quite want them that long but the only other options i could find were really short knobs for lack of a better way of putting it and i wasnt sure if they wouldve even made a difference.

Thing with the threaded rod is it adds time to tire changes.

    Re: Fork Sliders?

It's going really well. Got the Patent in process and we are ready to release them this weekend at Indy. They are going to have one side that stay in the axle permanently, making only necessary to pop off one puck with a quick release pin before you change the wheel. I'm going to use these on my Ducati for sure, as I had a crash a couple years ago that broke the nut and rashed up the bottom of my fork and axle. There are a number of different designs, but the picture below shows one scenario. To be available in about 3-4 weeks.

Those look great....what are the chances they will be order by size so I can throw some on my motard? Any chance they will be available with grooves in the pucks to fit a spool stand

    Re: Fork Sliders?

I had a set from speedy moto, they broke the first time I went down and the axle and nut still got ground down.

I ended up make my own on a lath out of delrin. ID pushes into the axle, OD is small enough the nut slips over it. Does not affect tire changes at all, actually it gives me something to tap on tap get the axle in and out.

    Re: Fork Sliders?

in general they are a good idea - especially on track bikes... can save the axle head and especially the nut.. Same with rear axle...

They went over really well at the dealer show. I'm hoping to have them for most of the major models by the time LRRS starts up in 8 weeks (we'll see how well we do with that). I know we'll have at least Ducati, R6 & GSXR....we'll move on to BMW, Kawasaki and Honda shortly thereafter.
