    Those friggin plastic screws

Tried to change my oil and coolant today, but spent way too long just trying to get the dam plastic screws out and ran out of time. I would think a flat, pronged piece of metal to slide in on both sides would work beautifully - does anyone have one or know if there are any you can buy?

Any other tips for getting these dam things off?

you turn them 1/4 turn and the center can be popped out making the whole thing easy to pry out of the hole. Putting em back is the same - pop em in push in the center and 1/4 turn. Use a small (2" long) flat head.

I use a door panel removal tool like this:

They come in different size, so just get one that fits those screws.

    Re: Those friggin plastic screws

Whenever I change the oil on my GSXR I replace those cause the plastic threads ALWAYS strip out on me. They are 1/4 plastic rivets. I get them from Autozone. Like $2.50 for a set of 3. WAY easier then trying to reuse old ones.

Do you seriously need a schematic to know what a plastic screw is?

    Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Giggity: BlackBerry8330/4.5.0.175 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

There's 2 or 3 different plastic screws for GSXR bodywork. If he listed which one he's talking about, then someone could chime in how to properly remove them, so they can be reused.

    Re: Those friggin plastic screws

is it the kind that's like a molly where it expands when it's pushed in? if there's a hole in the center just push something in there and should pop out. some of them you have to unscrew slightly and then they pull out too
