Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I have the MX stand. It works well for me.
I am strongly considering buying one of these:

Plus one of these:

They are on sale. On SALE I SAY!
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I wasnt impressed with the tire changer, but thats just me.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
Do you know where to find the motorcycle attachment? I thought they discontinued it.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I have their bead breaker. It does the job.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I did too. But it's on the website again.

I have an 8" C clamp, it does the job as well
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
Did anybody mention the HF Self-Locking Motorcycle Wheel Chock? Works as it should, heavy duty, clunky, I paid $40, then later saw them slashed to $25.
(Baxley and Condor are nicer, for an additional $200 +/-)

I use 2 of these in my horse trailer for hauling bikes to tracks. They've worked very well:

Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I think he was maybe talking talking about one of these. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two.

I have one on my utility trailer and another in a box ready to go on this spring. Definitely doesn't suck.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
For another chock option, I saw this chock/stand at Cycle Gear Woburn last week, price reduced to $70 as I recall.
"Universal Roll On Stand"

This is like the design of the Baxley free-standing chock.

Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I have that setup. It isn't that bad for scratching if you are careful. I'm not because my bikes are often dirty.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I'll probably keep changing tires on the floor using spoons and motion pro rim guards.

I just did this for the first time, it's stupid easy!

Well it kind of depends on the tires. Race slicks are like butter. Rains and street tires can be a pain. Flat track track tires are pretty much unspoonable.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
My first and only experience was with BT003's, seemed pretty easy.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
Can anyone speak to the quality of their router bits?
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
Cannot. Their consumables are really hit and miss. I'd say if they're inexpensive and you don't see a great chance of it exploding and hitting you in the face with shrapnel (cutting wheels) give me a try.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
Speaking of the HF lift and chock, coupons are out for the 1000-lb. lift at $299.99 and the self-locking chock at $24.99, saw them in the April 2014 CW.

They have some decent hand tools such as hammers, magnetic pick up tools, mirrors, i have a set of seal drivers that works well, pretty much anything that doesn't need precision. I have nothing against the place for herring together a cheap tool kit for traveling or something, where you won't be using and abusing stuff on a regular basis, or like big specialty sockets etc where you only seldom need it.

Thanks for the link. Had no idea these were available. I will retrofit my HF tire changer for sure now. That said, after 25 sets of tires, my rims have no powder coating left on the edges, but maybe my next bike will be less scratched.
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
Had to bump this thread, found a great cheap Harbor Freight tool to replace the "special tool" needed to remove Ohlins fork caps. I can't remember how I stumbled upon it, but apparently it's supposed to be used on angle grinders, worked perfectly removing the cap on my cartridge kit, and only $5!
Adjustable Pin Wrench
Re: Harbor Freight tools that DON'T suck
I bet that would work for KTM fork caps too. Maybe.
