    I hate my brakes!

    Update:

Upon reading various threads about the awesome GSXR brakes and m/c's and all that jazz, we (matt stone and I) came up with this solution.

Remove 1 whole caliper and rotor.
Put on proven F2 master cylinder (off my old front end)
    Rebleed.

Voila. My brakes now feel like brakes should, plus I dropped a bunch of rotating and unsprung weight off the front. Will see how it works tomorrow during the Penguin / Ducati Trackday.

As a added bonus, my bike looks that much more like a wannabe GP bike, right Paul

    Alex,

Did you wind up swapping the wheels? If so did it fix the sliding side to side issue?

    I hate my brakes!

This month's Cycle World has a section in there specifically about the "matching your master cylinder to your calipers" problem. Confirms the fact that you need to make sure you have a setup that complement each other or you will lose effective pressure or use too much/too little lever travel etc. Interesting read.

    derek

    I hate my brakes!

i had the same problem when i put the GSXR front end on my SV and was using Kates front wheel. i then discovered that in 04 the rotor is 20mm smaller than the 02 brake set up i had on there so i was only using 75% of the pads...

    I hate my brakes!

    Lets recap:

    2 GSXR Calipers + GSXR M/C (same year / setup) = Crap
    1 GSXR Caliper + F2 M/C from 1993 = Great

Those model year GSXR m/c's are notorious for being shite. I read about 1000 posts on the WERA board from other racers who had the same issues with them. Impossible to get solid feel. Work fine for street, not so good for race conditions.
