    HJC CB2002 Alarm question...

    Hello all....

Finally getting around to installing the alarm I bought off of SweetZ last January... I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these before???

My question is that in the wiring diagram they mention a "starter relay". I was wondeing if this was reffering to an aftermarket relay I need to install like in car alarms... or if it's something already in the bike...

    Thanks in advance!

    Mike

Mike, the starter relay is the relay that kicks in when the start button is pressed. It's the relay that feeds power to the starter motor. It usually has a 30A fuse attached to it and it's usually positioned very close to the battery positive terminal.

    Thanks Degs!

If I'm thinking of the same thing I always reffered to that as the starter solenoid...

    Thanks again!

Ah, the starter solenoid is the device that makes the starter gear spring out to engage the flywheel. The starter relay supplies power to spin the starter motor.

    HJC CB2002 Alarm question...

The starter relay is usually near the battery on most of the bikes that I've played with. Looks like a little rectangle thing maybe an inch by an inch by an inch and a half.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
