    Hosed SRAD

Been storing my 750 SRAD that I rode all last season in my garage and suddenly this season the tank started leaking. So I picked up a new OEM Suz gasky from B Courts. Pulled the pump out and uhhhhh this looks like shit. I'm gonna try some Permatex blue jiZz and see if it seals.

A "used" pump on eBay is like $350. What is my alternative if this doesn't seal ? $350 for a used questionable pump seems silly. Can this unit be fixed ?

    Thanks

permatex will not hold. you need a proper fuel gasket ring to seal it.

This is becoming quite the problem with the old srads. Look on gixxer.com for all the attempted repairs.

It will only make things worse once it starts to break down.

Hylomar is a gasket dressing that doesn't break down in the presence of fuel (and I believe it's blue). Really good stuff for this purpose. I think Permatex now makes it under license -- might be what you have. If you clean everything really well and use a new gasket dressed with this stuff you should be good.

Permatex is RTV (silicone). It will not hold gas for very long.

You need a nitrile gasket or silicone rubber gasket.

    This is the stuff:

    https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-8524...ct_top?ie=UTF8

Except I'm not sure if Permatex is distributing it anymore, the Amazon link says currently unavailable. I used this on a similar application (a small tube came with a replacement fuel valve) and it's still holding up 15 years later. This stuff was developed by Rolls Royce for aircraft engines during WWII.

You can order it from Amazon under the regular brand -- just search for 'Hylomar'.

Oh dear, looks like Permatex has reverse engineered Hylomar! Time for legal action, these gasket sealant wars are not pretty.
