ignition wireing?

I got an atv its a yamaha 90cc is what the guy said, for free from a junkyard the guy said all it needs is the ignition key assembly because its cut off. he said befor that it ran perfectly.
where the key goes there is a big hole like he broke it out and i see 6 wires.

1. red
2. green
3. blue
4. black
5. yellow with red stripe
6. brown

before i go buy a part thats going to cost me $60
i want to test this and make sure it runs if not its going back to a junkyard or scrap yard lol

ok this is what i did sofar and has me scared im going to mess something up
i connected the green to the yellow kicked it and it pops like it wants to start but stinks like melting wires so i unconnected that thinking that is hot to ground... i know it should not smell like that

i don't know anything about atv's but always wanted one and want this one to start... any one know how to wire it direct to work?

welcome to the forum.

You need a wire diagram or someone who's very familiar with the machine you have. I wouldn't touch any wires together until you have one or both at your disposal.

Yes keep the wires separate.

Most dirt bikes grounding the ignition shuts them off so it should run if nothing is connected

Clean the plug
Full THottle with a squirt of Starting Fluid
Kick from compression peak
