I am cleaning an old set of Keihin carbs and one has a leaky overflow tube. It's the long brass tube (not the thing the arrow points to) in the photo below . It's leaking where it mates with the float bowl. I am reluctant to try and pull it out because I think I might break it off. I'd like to simply apply sealer to the base. In the past, I'd use Permatex #1 (not RTV) which resists gasoline just fine. However, Permatex #1 can be softened with alcohol and I'm worried about 10% ethanol dissolving it and making it leak again. Two questions: is sealing it a good plan, and what should I use?
