    LED lights help.

    I have an 05 gsxr750 with a hotbodies undertail ..
It has two led lites , right and left ,,
They are 1/2 tall by 2 inches wide with 4 amber leds in each .
from what i have read the chances of 4 leds burning out or getting used up , all at once is just about impossible .. these are sealed.. and there are no vissable broken wires or contacts ,
I will not buy another under tail for $200 just for these 4 little led "s

does anybody know how I can buy a 4 led amber lite 1/2/X2in long clear lens
my search on the web has been unsuccessfull . I can"t even get contact info directly to hotbodies. and the retailers don't want to be bothered with a part that should'nt be bad in the first place..they where glued into the abs plastic undertail with clear silicone of some sort.. so they are"nt meant to be removed , or replaced
for the time being I have glued some missmatched leds in place just so I have turn signals..( not pretty )2red and2 white

Please . any sugestions or info would be of great help
    Thanks Ray

If there was no resistor that should have been there then POP all gone instantly from over voltage and current

    However
LED stands for Light Emitting DIODE
Diode only flows current in 1 direction so for shits and giggles try reversing the wires and then see

lites where on bike and working for 3 seasons.. the undertail is from hotbodies. so the resister to lower the voltage , should their be one , would have to be on the little circuit board that the led's are on ,, which is sealed in a clear lens , and a black softer plastic from th back with the two wires comming out ..I don't know how a voltage spike could fry all 4 LED's on the rear turn and not hit the front .. or not have a reoccuring spike to fry the left turns.
but any how any help on getting direct contact info to hotbodies.. or to find a replacement lite 1/2" x 2" 4 amber LED's with clear lens to fit into the under tail
another question . can turn signals be red instead of amber ?

I think I know what you are talking about. You have two disks in your undertail? each disk has both brake lights and turn signals in it. When you hit the brakes all the led's are red and when you signal for a turn the outer half of the disk flashes yellow. The disks are 2 1/2 inches diameter?

If I am right, then I believe your only choice is new disks (they only come in sets of 2) and I dont think you can get them from hotbodies. There is a site www.oppracing.com. Look under the undertails section, and click on the integrated tail lights. These will fit and are actually way better than the lights that came with your undertail, but they are not cheap $198. I am not aware of any other sites offering these units for less.

likely bad wiring or contacts somewhere you can't easily see/diagnose. do a continuity test at various locations.

Didn't understand was working for years

WEASEL WAy of lowering voltage is to wire LEDs in series. Then when 1 goes they all go.

Also vibration could kill them as well.

Poke around Cararral they had LEDs that's where I got mine
