Petcock information that is....I'm not sure if I'm going to need a new one for my fuel tank. Went to dump the fuel out of my 250's tank and ran into a speed bump. Tipped the tank, and turned fuel to on, and watched no fuel empty. Then opened the cap just to be sure it wasn't a vacuum issue, and again, no dice. Is it possible that the petcock is clogged or something to that effect?

On the valve, does it say "prime or pri" on it? If it does you have a vacuum operated petcock and in order to get fuel out of it you will have to turn the lever to "prime or pri". There would also be a small hose connected to it along with the main fuel line.
It does however have a small hose and a main fuel line.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Take the petcock off the tank, then let it drain through the new opening.

The small hose is a vacuum hose. Needs vacuum to allow fuel to flow.
Concern is if the petcock is operating properly or not. I'm just concerned that we get the carbs all cleaned up and ready to be sync'd and the petcock is garbage and then we'd have wasted ours and someone else's time when we could fixed the problem now and be ready to go.

Don't lose the spring!!
It probably works fine, just need to put some vacuum on it to check.

Yeah it probably does work just fine... the small hose is attached to a vacuum source... the big one is the main fuel line. Clean the carbs or whatever... a lot of people with ex500's put inline filters on there because there is no fuel filter from the factory.. not sure if the 250 is the same way. Something to keep in mind.
The best advice I’ve ever been given is to not forget where you came from.
I have a Pet-Cock if you need to borrow it...![]()
It's easy enough to create vacuum to prime the system by sucking on the small hose; it's isolated, so you're not breathing fuel. YMMV.
Then again, I've had plenty of practice sucking at life, so a little hose is no issue for me.
EDIT: Oh, you're trying to drain the tank. Yeah, that would take forever - pull the petcock off, or find a vacuum pump.

When i drained the tank on my EX500, I just turned the petcock to reserve, sucked on the vaccuum hose to open the diaphragm, folded the hose over on itself & used a clip to keep it pinched.
Took a while to drain it, but it worked.
