Looking to have a jet kit installed

Anyone know of a good shop or person to talk to about installing a jet kit on a ZRX1200? It's my first carbed bike in MANY years and the little carb knowledge I had was lost as the years rolled by.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

Hey, Welcome! ZRX is a great bike! You get the Ivan's kit?

Where you located? Alot of good eggs on here that can help you out. I just did a factory pro jet kit on my Monster. I'd say I know enough to be dangerous...

Haven't picked up the jet kit yet. Probably going to pick up one of the Ivan's kits when I do though.

    I'm in Newton.

I've done a couple of ZRX's years ago. Do everyone involved(including yourself) a favor and get the kit for pods from Ivan with K&N pods to go with it. The extra money you spend on the pods will be considered well spent the first time you try to put the carb's back in with that fucking airbox in the way.

highly recommend harrys machined parts too if you're looking for a shop with a dyno.

The place in Northborough? Didn't know they service bikes, thought they were just a machine shop.

They rebuilt the head on my motard and did a fantastic job for short money.

I didn't realize they had a dyno there... but it makes sense. They had a lot of drag bikes and such in there.

    Definitely knowledgeable dudes.

what they do for 'service' is limited but they do (at least in '09) jet kit installs and dyno them to get them right, sniffer and everything.. I had to get my rotor mounting posts on a wheel milled even and they did that but wouldn't take the tire on/off and referenced me to performance cycles, so that kind of stuff is where they draw the line.

They're a full mc machine shop tho.

oh yea. last time i was there rick showed me his 600+ busa with like 400 ft lbs of torque (iirc) that they used for standing mile records. it was unridable like that tho and was detuned significantly to ride.

Get the Ivan's 3.0 kit and some Uni pods. The K&N's are more expensive and don't filter as well. Plus they fall off.

I did mine that exact way last fall. I have a flat spot that needs to be fixed around 4k, but she sure does haul once it cleans out.

    Did you get block-off plates?

Can always do the penny/JB weld route. That's what I did and it works great.

What exhaust did you go with?

You'll also need a crankcase breather filter if you go pods. $10 at Autozone with a rubber elbow.

I heard/read good things about the Ivan's kits and Uni Pods.

Yup, installed the Ivan's block off plates already.

Just have a Muzzy TI slipon at the moment. Not too many choices for full exhaust systems for this 10 year old bike.

Yup, I know about the crankcase filter.

Interesting. My bike came with some old K/N pods, and I thought it was age that had them fall off if I looked at them funny. This is a known problem of them? If so, that's pretty shitty considering how expensive they are.

They only fall off when the hose clamps are over-tightened or pod is not fully seated. I ran them on my ZRX for 5 years and never had one fall off. Like hundreds of other ZRX owners.....

If you have a slip on, don't bother with the 3.0

    Yup, got it.

Holeshot header on the way to mate up with the Muzzy slipon. Seems like all the full systems for the ZRX have dried up unless you order from Japan... $$$.
