    Post MA Motorcycle Inspection Rules

With the end of May approaching, it's probably a good time to post this -

Here's a link to the current MA inspection rules - http://www.massrmv.com/rmv/inspect/540cmr400.pdf.

Motorcycle specific-requirements are in section 4.06, on pages 23 to 30.

    Re: MA Motorcycle Inspection Rules

LOL...after reading those requirements. I know probably 50% or more of the motorcycles out there would fail the inspection if any of the inspection stations followed those requirements. The most common failure would be the reflectors. I'm probably one of 3% of riders who has been too lazy to remove the stock reflectors on my bike, most have none. Exhaust system would be high on the list for failure, though the specifications given are curiously vague. The rear turn signal specs might be the 3rd most common failure with their requirement of minimum 9 inches between them.

Good thing no inspection station I know of has EVER done a "by the book" inspection, it would take over an hour per bike.

I may remove the rear turn signals on the Duc, which is still not legal here in NH, but who really cares right?

Shit man... I went to my guy with just my registration and mileage no bike then walked out with a sticker. I could only imagine some shops being sticklers and failing you. Then telling you that your bike is not state compliant and you can't ride it out of the station. Of course they would offer to fix it for you at a premium price.

That was a nice checklist to make sure everything is up to par on my bike and I haven't neglected anything. Unfortunately I should have not passed inspection the last 12 years due to no front reflectors.
